CHRIST DIARIES 002: PAST TRAUMAS ❤️
*This is a story from a trusted friend of mine*
Proverbs 31 : 10-31 | NKJV
10| Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.
11 | The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.
12 | She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.
13 | She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.
14 | She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar.
15 | She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.
16 | She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.
17 | She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.
18 | She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.
19 | She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.
20 | She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.
21 | She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.
22 | She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.
23 | Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.
24 | She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.
25 | Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.
26 | She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.
27 | She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.
28 | Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
29 | Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.
30 | Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.
31 | Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates
A Godly Woman
Proverbs 31:10-31 describes the characteristics and virtues of a godly woman, highlighting her value and impact in various aspects of life.
Verse 10 emphasizes the rarity and preciousness of a virtuous woman, comparing her worth to that of rubies. This verse sets the tone for the scripture, emphasizing the importance and value of a woman who embodies virtues such as integrity, wisdom, and strength.
- Integrity: the quality of being honest, upright, and morally sound in all aspects of life. It involves consistency in one's actions, thoughts, and values, and a commitment to doing what is right even when no one is watching.
- Wisdom: the ability to make sound judgments and decisions based on knowledge, experience, and understanding. It involves discerning the best course of action in various situations and applying knowledge effectively.
- Strength: physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual power and resilience. It is the capacity to endure challenges, overcome obstacles, and stand firm in the face of adversity.
In the following verses, we can see the practical outworking of these virtues in the woman's life. She is depicted as trustworthy (v. 11), industrious (v. 13), resourceful (v. 14), diligent (v. 15), enterprising (v. 16), strong (v. 17), wise (v. 26), caring (v. 20), and well-prepared (v. 21). She is not only capable in managing her household but also engages in productive work, cares for the needy, and contributes to the well-being of her family and community.
- Industrious: hardworking, diligent, and dedicated to one's tasks and responsibilities. It involves being productive, efficient, and proactive in one's work.
- Resourceful: the ability to find creative solutions to problems, make the most of available resources, and adapt to changing circumstances effectively. It involves being innovative, flexible, and strategic in problem-solving.
- Diligent: the quality of being careful, thorough, and persistent in one's work or efforts. It involves paying attention to detail, working with focus and dedication, and consistently striving for excellence.
- Caring: showing compassion, kindness, and concern for the well-being of others. It includes being attentive to the needs of others, offering support and encouragement, and demonstrating empathy and love in actions and words.
The passage also highlights the woman's relationship with her husband and children. Her husband trusts her and praises her (v. 11, 28), and her children honor and bless her (v. 28). She is a source of strength and wisdom for her family, embodying qualities that bring honor and blessing to those around her.
The passage concludes by emphasizing the woman's reverence for the Lord as the foundation of her virtues and praises her for her fear of the Lord (v. 30). Her worth is not merely in her external qualities but in her relationship with God, which guides her actions and character.
In summary, Proverbs 31:10-31 paints a portrait of a godly woman whose value surpasses material possessions and societal standards. She is characterized by her faith, integrity, industry, wisdom, compassion, and devotion to God, making her a source of blessing and honor in her family and community.
Why I created Christ Diaries ?
I created Christ Diaries primarily for myself, as a way to find my true identity through the image of God. This chapter was born out of a need to let go of my desire to control what I cannot. It serves as a tool to help me manage stress and refocus on what truly matters: the present moment and the presence of God the Father and Jesus the Son.
Through Christ Diaries, I aim to build a closer relationship with God. It’s also a risk I’ve taken to share my life with people I don't know, hoping that my journey might resonate with others and provide some form of connection or inspiration. By documenting my struggles and triumphs, I seek to deepen my faith and allow myself to grow spiritually, finding peace in the knowledge that I am not alone on this path.
The Beauty in My Story pt 2
“In 2016, I began a new chapter in my life, moving from Kingston,Jamaica to live with my mom and brother in New York. I started attending 147 in third grade and continued until eighth grade. My journey took root in a new city, nurtured by my village upbringing.
In third grade, I was a reserved and introverted student, but my Jamaican upbringing had taught me that everyone was equal and deserving of respect - one love, one heart, one community. I didn't think my background would make me stand out at my new school. I didn't believe there was something about me to be made fun of. However, I soon realized that not everyone shared the same values, and I faced skepticism and teasing. I was bullied. Despite this, my experiences in Jamaica had instilled a sense of self-worth that helped me navigate these challenges.
I faced bullying and laughter from those I considered close friends. They mocked me, saying, 'You're so black,' and making fun of the size of my nose. On top of that, I was already self-conscious about my height, being the tallest in my grade from third to fifth grade. Their words cut deep, leaving me feeling vulnerable and alone.
After the new kids arrived, my height suddenly became an issue for everyone else. It baffled me because I was previously invisible, and they knew nothing about me - and still don't. Yet, someone came along and disrupted that, making snide remarks about my height, comparing me to the Appalachian mountains and trees. They even said I was 'too black,' and looked like a mountain. I tried to brush it off, laughing along with them, hoping the teasing would eventually stop. But it continued, and I internalized their hurtful words, wondering if I'd ever fit in.
The bullying continued, with them relentlessly mocking my skin color, face, and body. I became a shadow of myself, acting out of character. Fifth grade became the worst year of my life. The bullying was so severe that I thought I needed nose surgery. I even attempted to harm myself. Continued with s******l thoughts. For years, I struggled with self-acceptance, hating my nose and feeling worthless. I became insecure.
God reminds us that whether we're Jews or gentiles, we all come from and return to the same everlasting creator. Despite the bullying I've endured, I've chosen to forgive my bullies and move forward. I've overcome that difficult season, and I understand that what's done is done. I'm ready to embrace the present and look towards a Brighter future.
We need to realize that God places His strongest soldiers through the toughest, longest and hardest battles, not to break them, but to build them.
We often get distracted by the material world and lose sight of our spiritual purpose. We should focus on fulfilling our true purpose, which is to serve God and live according to His plan, rather than getting caught up in superficial things like skin color or pleasing others. It's time for us to refocus and remember our core values and beliefs.”
These are my words, contradictory to what I said in Christ Diaries 001, but this is the story I always use to cover up what pains me the most. I have witnessed abuse in ways that are unimaginable. For the sake of protection, I will not reveal names, but someone I love deeply allows this abuse to happen. I sit and wonder why. I've always promised myself that I would never let anything like that happen to me. Almost all the time, I have been involved in helping this person escape, yet they always find a way to let it happen again. Hatred filled my heart, and all I could see was red. I hated everyone around me. I internalized everything, keeping it all bottled up inside. I started to have dark thoughts about what I would do if I saw the abuser again, determined to protect my loved one at all costs. This obsession cost me my kind heart, my soul, and my sanity.
I turned to my Bible for solace, but even then, my mind was always elsewhere. Sometimes, I would stop reading to attend to my troubling thoughts, depriving myself of real knowledge and wisdom. I love reading, but sometimes it feels tedious. I love writing, but I fear oversharing. I love participating in many activities, but a negative thought always seems to appear out of nowhere, stopping me from being great.
A dark cloud has followed me long enough, especially after the passing of my father. I followed a dark path, blaming myself for everything and believing that Jesus didn’t love me because I wanted more time with Him. I have experienced much more than I let on or allow people to know. When I talk with Jesus, there is a sense of release, but even then, the thoughts of everything still cloud over me.
This struggle has been a constant in my life, weighing heavily on my spirit. Despite the pain and turmoil, I continue to seek solace and understanding in my faith. The journey is far from over, but I am determined to find peace and healing through my relationship with Jesus.
The Profound Message
You go through things, but they shouldn’t define who you are. God strengthens you and gave you life with a purpose. Whatever you face, it is meant to help you embrace the presence of God and the future He has prepared for you. Once you acknowledge God's presence in your life and continue to live for Him, it is declared that no weapon formed against you shall prosper.
God gave us life to be the spiritual embodiment of Jesus. He gave His only begotten Son for this world, to see it flourish and be as beautiful as it once was when He created it. Reading your Bible and acquiring knowledge about Jesus isn't just a religious practice; it's about fostering a spiritual relationship. I can't tell you who Jesus is for you—that's for you to discover. But for me, Jesus is my best friend and my entire world.
You can do anything through Christ who strengthens you. Embrace the purpose God has given you and trust in His plan. With His strength, you can overcome any obstacle and find true fulfillment in your spiritual journey.
How to Become an embodiment of a Godly Woman
First and foremost, cultivating a deep reverence for the Lord is essential. Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom (Proverbs 9:10), and it serves as the foundation for a godly life. Seeking wisdom through prayer, studying the Bible, and surrounding yourself with true believers can help strengthen your faith and guide your actions.
Secondly, embodying virtues of integrity, kindness, diligence, and compassion in your daily life is pivotal. Strive to be trustworthy, hardworking, and caring towards others, both in your household and in your community. Look for opportunities to serve and help those in need, showing love and generosity to all. (For example; donating to developing countries whether it be food or money and any other necessities they need to survive)
Additionally, prioritizing your relationships with your family, is important. Building a strong, trusting relationship with your husband and nurturing your children in a loving and supportive environment reflects the qualities of a godly woman.
Furthermore, it is essential to continuously seek personal growth and improvement. Being open to learning, growing in wisdom, and developing your character will help you become more like the godly woman described in Proverbs 31.
